Trucking's Compliance and Cost Battle

According to "The Road Ahead 2025: Trucking and Fleet Insights Report" by Fleetworthy, compliance with evolving regulations is the foremost concern for fleets and owner-operators. The survey of 300 industry employees highlights that 95% believe compliance challenges hinder business growth and service expansion. Additionally, over half of fleet operators feel overwhelmed by paperwork, with complex compliance documentation impeding the onboarding of new drivers, leading to missed opportunities and increased costs.

The report also reveals that 96% of respondents have reduced costs in other business areas to cover compliance expenses in the past year. Managing tolls presents significant challenges for 93% of participants, due to the complexity of multiple transponders and unpredictable expenses. Notably, 35% of owner-operators have considered ceasing operations because of the rising costs and time required for compliance management. Concerns about potential nuclear verdicts in legal disputes are prevalent, especially among midsize and small trucking operations, with 35% of midsize fleet leaders expressing high levels of concern.
