Truck Driver Arrested After Crashing Into Police Cruisers on I-75

A semi-truck driver was arrested for reckless driving after a dramatic crash involving multiple police vehicles on Interstate 75 in Royal Oak, Michigan, on the morning of December 12th. Michigan State Police (MSP) were investigating an earlier crash near the 11 Mile Road ramp when the truck attempted to bypass slowed traffic in the left lane. Unable to stop in time, the semi collided with two MSP vehicles parked in the lane, causing a chain reaction of crashes.

The truck first struck a patrol car, pushing it 100 yards into a second patrol vehicle before narrowly missing two officers, who avoided injury by leaping over a median wall. The semi then hit another car involved in the initial accident. One trooper sustained minor injuries and was hospitalized, while the driver was taken into custody. MSP Lieutenant Mike Shaw emphasized the dangers of distracted and reckless driving, urging motorists to slow down and avoid walking on freeway ramps to take photos.
