Truck Driver Faces Charges After Impaired Driving Incident in BC
Police in British Columbia have charged a 42-year-old truck driver for allegedly operating a tractor-trailer under the influence and striking four parked cars. The incident occurred on December 9 along the Mary Hill Bypass in Port Coquitlam. BC Highway Patrol responded to reports of erratic driving, alerted by a concerned citizen. The driver was stopped and identified before further damage could occur.
Corporal Michael McLaughlin of the BC Highway Patrol expressed disbelief over the actions of the professional driver, emphasizing the dangers of operating such a large vehicle while impaired. The truck was immediately impounded for 24 hours, and the driver is facing multiple charges, including Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operating a Conveyance with a blood alcohol level exceeding the legal limit.
In addition to criminal charges, the driver faces administrative penalties, including a 90-day driving prohibition and the seizure of his BC Driver’s License.
