Trooper who stopped to help disabled truck stumbles upon $5 MILLION worth of weed

From CDL Life:

A Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) trooper was only attempting to assist a box truck driver with mechanical problems over the weekend, but he wound up discovering thousands of pounds of marijuana.

The drug bust took place around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, near Cozad, Nebraska.

According to NSP, a trooper spotted a box truck disabled on the shoulder of eastbound I-80 at mile marker 228 and stopped to offer help.

However, the trooper soon became suspicious of criminal activity and had the truck towed to the NSP office in Lexington for a probable cause search.

During the search, officers discovered 2,295 pounds of marijuana concealed in boxes that were labeled as electronics and other items.

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $5 million.

Thirty-three year old Arizona-based truck driver Nolan Amado was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana – more than one pound, possession with intent to deliver, and no drug tax stamp.

Amado was booked in the Dawson County Jail.
