Kansas driver survives shock after truck hits power lines on K-4
From KSTN:
A semi-truck driver has been hospitalized Friday after his truck hit power lines overhead on Kansas Highway 4, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
KSNT News sent Sky Tracker II up to survey the scene as emergency crews worked to clean up the scorched truck.
Troopers and fire and medical crews went to the scene in a construction zone on K-4 near Clark Road around 10:40 a.m. A trooper said the semi driver raised the truck bed to dump asphalt and then hit power lines while moving from the dumpsite.
The truck caught fire and the power lines electrocuted the driver as he jumped out, according to a KHP trooper. The aftermath of the incident restricted traffic on K-4 for several hours, with cars backed up and diverted off the highway.
The driver’s name was not available as of Friday. At the last update from KHP, the driver was expected to live after treatment at Stormont Vail Hospital.
