Driver Seriously Injured When Ice Flies Off Truck, Smashes Window
From Patch.com:
Londonderry fire, police, and EMS responded to a call Wednesday for an accident on Nashua Road west of Young Road.
On their arrival, they found a vehicle pulled over with the driver of a vehicle laying on the ground with serious head injuries. Police quickly determined that ice had flown off a truck traveling on Nashua Road.
Londonderry Police Capt. Patrick Cheetham said the driver was treated by fire and EMS and transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The truck was identified and returned to the scene shortly after the accident occurred.
"The car was traveling east and the truck was traveling west in an area posted at 55 mph when the ice flew off," Cheetham said. "This added to the significant danger of the ice striking the vehicle at such a high speed"
Londonderry police notified NH State Police Troop G, which investigates accidents with commercial vehicles. State police sent a trooper to the scene and is working with Londonderry police in investigating the incident.
